Monster Mash 2019
Get ready for a ghoulishly great time!!! We have begun to prepare for this year’s Monster Mash! The fifth graders are excited about it and are working to make it especially fun and spooky. We will have some very special tricks and treats for you! We will present several spine-tingling performances on Friday, October 25th. 9 a.m. performance at McDonald Elementary 10:30 a.m. performance at the Good Samaritan retirement care center 12:15 p.m. performance at the Palouse Mall. You are invited to attend any or all of our performances. We hope you will be able to join us. There is some preparation that must be done outside of school for this special event. First of all, each student is responsible for memorizing the song texts. These will be included in next week’s folder. Practice tracks are available on-line at mcdonaldmusic.weebly.com. under “Resources”. Also, each student will need a costume to wear to school on the day of the performance. Have fun putting a costume together, but please be careful not to make them overly scary since our audience will include the very young and the elderly. Additionally, the costumes should not include face coverings of any kind, other than make-up, and no hand-held props. Mrs. Stefani McDonald Music [email protected] mcdonaldmusic.weebly.com
Veteran's Day Monday, November 11 at 10:15 a.m. 4th Grade will perform at Good Samaritan Village Public is welcome to attend
All grades can access practice tracks at mcdonaldmusic.weebly.com 1st Quarter Emphasis Dear K-2 Parents, 1st Quarter has been spent emphasizing the first of the Idaho Fine Arts Standards, Creating. Students are exploring and experimenting with rhythm, pitch, textures, and form with the goal of creating their own choices and explaining WHY they are making various musical decisions. They are learning to notate and read music at their appropriate grade level, sometimes through music notation, sometimes through iconic symbols creating a visual representation of a sound they are creating.
2nd Quarter Emphasis 2nd Quarter will turn to the 2nd and 4th Fine Arts Standards, Performing and Connecting. K-2 students will be preparing for a holiday performance but will be expected to put their own creative touches on songs they will be learning and identifying why composers created music for a specific purpose. Kindergarten is exploring the sounds of the voice and showing the difference between high/low, slow/fast, soft/loud. Grade 1 works towards identifying similar qualities but doing so with less teacher support and Grade 2 incorporates instrument playing and music reading into their learning.
